Fresh Twist in FKF Leadership Dispute as Sports Tribunal Issues New Directives | BossNana International Radio

The Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) has issued fresh directions in the ongoing leadership struggle within the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). The latest ruling extends interim orders that previously blocked key decisions made by the federation’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

Delivered in Nairobi, the Tribunal’s decision ensures that the suspension of FKF President Hussein Mohamed remains on hold. This stay also applies to the General Secretary/acting CEO and a NEC member, preserving their positions until the next case mention on May 12, 2026. By extending these orders, the SDT effectively maintains the current administrative status quo while the legal battle continues.

A central part of the Tribunal’s reasoning involves an active FIFA inquiry into the federation’s governance. The SDT recognizes this global probe as a vital Internal Dispute Resolution Mechanism (IDRM) that directly impacts the local case.

Consequently, the Tribunal has ordered all involved parties to file and share any documents related to the FIFA investigation within strictly defined timelines.

The Tribunal also cleared up confusion regarding parallel legal actions in the High Court. It noted that a separate order issued in Kiambu does not stop the SDT from moving forward with this matter. The ruling confirmed that nothing currently challenges or suspends the Tribunal’s jurisdiction, allowing the proceedings to continue without any further interruption.

To ensure a fair hearing, the SDT established several strict conditions for the next phase of the legal battle. These requirements include the proper delivery of responses to the applicant, the filing of necessary replies, and the comprehensive submission of all relevant documents from every party involved.

In its specific directives, the Tribunal ordered respondents represented by legal counsel to serve their responses within three days. The 9th respondent received a four-day window to file and serve its response.

Following this, the applicant has two days to reply, though they must complete this step no later than noon on May 12, 2026.

By extending these interim orders, the Tribunal signaled its commitment to preserving the core of the dispute. This move prevents any unilateral actions that could compromise the case before all sides have a chance to present their arguments in full.

As the next mention date approaches, the focus shifts to whether the parties will comply with these deadlines and what the FIFA inquiry will reveal. The findings from that international probe could ultimately dictate the final outcome of this leadership crisis.
