Nairobi residents can now access a range of county services directly at Huduma Centres, making interactions with government offices faster and more convenient.
Huduma Kenya confirmed the rollout on Tuesday, February 17, noting that the initiative brings essential services closer to residents in densely populated areas.
The first phase covers three centers in Eastleigh, Kibra, and Makadara, neighborhoods known for their busy commercial and residential activity.
Streamlined Financial and Revenue Services
Visitors can now manage financial and revenue matters at a single location, including paying land rates, settling county parking fees, and applying for or renewing business permits.
“Business owners, in particular, stand to benefit, as they can now apply for or renew their permits at a single location rather than making separate visits to county offices,” the statement said.
The centers also assist with city planning and development inquiries, including zoning and development approvals.
Residents can now obtain information on county health programs, social development initiatives, and environmental management directly from Huduma Centres. The centers have supported city-wide cleaning campaigns and promoted environmental awareness, especially in Nairobi’s Central Business District.
Judiciary Services at Select Centres
Selected centers, including GPO, City Square, Makadara, and Kibra, now provide judiciary services. Residents can access e-filing support, pay fines, and check the status of cases, a service introduced in early 2024 to reduce repeated trips to court registries.
This initiative continues efforts to decentralize services. On February 25, 2020, the national government transferred specific Nairobi County government functions—covering health, transport, public works, and planning—to the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS).
After NMS operations ended in September 2022, Huduma Centres were leveraged to bring these services closer to residents.
