State House has announced a public auction for various unserviceable items, including motor vehicles, television sets, carpets, furniture, old tyres, and scrap materials.

In a notice published on MyGov on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the Executive Office of the President said it will dispose of items that no longer serve any useful purpose and will offer Kenyans an opportunity to bid for government-owned property through a public auction.

The list also includes assorted TVs, old vehicle batteries, scrap metal, Toyota gearboxes, halogen security lights, car wash machines, and broken furniture.

“The Executive Office of the President – State House intends to sell by public auction unserviceable motor vehicles, scrap metal, assorted old tyres, assorted TVs, old motor vehicle batteries, a car wash machine, Toyota gear boxes, halogen security lights, and assorted broken furniture, among other items,” the public notice reads.

Bidders will need to head to the yard later this month to catch the action. The government has scheduled the event for June 23, 2026, at the State Department for Roads in Ruiru, with the bidding kicking off promptly in the morning. As detailed in the announcement, “The auction will take place on Tuesday, 23rd June 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the State Department for Roads, Ruiru.”

To secure a spot in the bidding, the State House requires interested buyers to deposit a refundable fee of KSh50,000. Bidders must make this payment in cash at the Executive Office of the President-State House cash office in Nairobi during standard working hours.

As the official announcement highlights, “The prospective bidders are required to pay a refundable deposit of KShs. 50,000/= payable in form of cash at the cash office, Executive Office of the President-State House in Nairobi, during normal working hours.”

To help buyers prepare, the government has made the full auction catalogue available online. Prospective buyers can visit the official procurement portal or the President’s website to download details on the auction conditions, specific items up for grabs, location logistics, and viewing dates.

“Interested bidders may obtain further information by visiting www.tenders.go.ke and www.president. go.ke to download the catalogue containing details of venue, items to be auctioned, conditions of sale and date of viewing,” the notice reads.

The government has appointed Astorion Auctioneers to manage and oversee the entire sale process on the ground. According to the publication, “The appointed auctioneer is ASTORION AUCTIONEERS OF P.O. BOX 33340-00600 NAIROBI, TEL. 0733-366672.”
