PSC Orders Full Staff Participation in Nationwide Employee Satisfaction Survey | BossNana International Radio

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has directed all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and human resource heads to guarantee full staff participation in a newly launched employee survey.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, September 9, PSC said the survey will assess employee satisfaction and workplace conditions across government institutions.

The nationwide exercise, to be carried out between September 8–20, 2025, aims to measure the level of satisfaction of public servants in their professional lives and whether their workplace is satisfactory.

PSC noted that the results will establish an employee satisfaction baseline index to inform policy reforms and further service delivery.

The Commission added that the findings will also enhance workplace governance and promote employee well-being.

“To this end, the Public Service Commission is undertaking an employee satisfaction and workplace environment survey to determine the level of employee satisfaction and the suitability of the workplace environment.

“The findings of the survey shall guide the Commission in establishing the overall baseline employee satisfaction index and inform policy reviews to improve efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery, workplace environment, and good governance practice in the public service.”

In its notice, the PSC announced that the survey will cover all sectors under its mandate.

The exercise will involve constitutional commissions, independent offices, ministries, state departments, statutory commissions, authorities, state corporations, semi-autonomous government agencies (SAGAs), public universities, and technical and vocational education training institutions (TVETs).

PSC stressed that participation is mandatory, directing CEOs and HR heads to communicate to staff and rally them to complete the online assessment tool.

“The survey targets public officers in all the service sectors under the jurisdiction of the Commission.

“Authorized officers, CEOs, and Heads of Human Resource are required to widely share this notification with their staff to ensure maximum participation,” PSC stated.

By gathering data directly from employees, PSC intends to collect evidence that will drive reforms in workplace culture, employee motivation, and overall institutional efficiency.

The Commission has put the survey in an accessible form via a link on its website, www.publicservice.go.ke, and a QR code. The two offer workers a straightforward channel to provide their opinions and comments on the situation at work.
