Interior Cabinet Secretary Kichumba Murkomen has intensified his criticism of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of peddling falsehoods about national security.
Speaking on Monday, August 11, 2025, during the 27th Jukwaa la Usalama forum in Narok County, Murkomen labeled Gachagua a pathological liar. His remarks came in response to claims by the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader that President William Ruto’s administration was collaborating with the al-Shabaab terror group.
CS Murkomen challenged Gachagua to present any evidence supporting his allegations to the relevant authorities.
“Since he has information, you can still lie to us. You know this pathological liar; you can see through his lies. One minute, he says he has information relevant to dealing with Al-Shabaab, and the next, he claims people doing business are operating with the enemy,” Murkomen said.
Murkomen also accused the former Deputy President of inciting the public and chasing after attention-grabbing sound bites for social media – behavior he said was unbecoming of someone eyeing a high office.
“In the other minute, when he is told to put that information in a proper record, he starts running away because he is not going to record that information, which means it is just lies and sound bytes for social media and for the purpose of inciting the public,” Murkomen added.
Murkomen further challenged the former Deputy President to submit his allegations in writing, accompanied by evidence, if he truly considers himself a man of integrity.
“If he is a man enough and a person of integrity, he should put his allegations in writing together with the evidence that he has,” Murkomen said.
Gachagua’s remarks came a day after Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Murkomen threatened him with arrest once he returns from his U.S. tour.
While in Los Angeles on Sunday, Gachagua said he would publicly announce his return date, time, and flight details to give anyone interested in arresting him the opportunity to do so.
“When my day to go to Kenya is due, I will announce the date, the hour and the flight number so that whoever is interested in arresting me can go ahead and do it,” he said.
“Every day they discuss me in Parliament and say they will arrest me, I just move on, I am not a leader who buys fear,” he added.
