‘Hadi Kwake Nyumbani’: Ruto Orders Tarmac to Kalonzo’s Home, And Asks for His 2027 Vote | BossNana International Radio

President William Ruto took his 2027 re-election campaign to the heart of the opposition stronghold, challenging Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to support his upcoming presidential bid.

During a dynamic development tour across Kitui County on Monday, Ruto addressed a roadside rally in Musyoka’s political turf. Recalling their shared political roots, Ruto reminded the crowd that he campaigned for Musyoka back in 1992 when the Wiper leader ran for Parliament in Kitui North under the Youth for KANU ’92 (YK92) lobby group. The youth-led organization actively campaigned for President Daniel Moi and the Kenya African National Union (KANU) during Kenya’s historic first multiparty general election.

“Remind him that in 1992 I came here and campaigned for him under the KANU party, and he won. Tell him to remember me next year. If I ask him to return the favor in 2027, will I have done anything wrong?” Ruto asked.

He added: “Even Kthure Kindiki helped him in 2007 when he wanted to become president.”

Directing Infrastructure to Kalonzo’s Doorstep

Beyond political overtures, President Ruto made headlines by directing the contractor constructing the new 55-kilometer Twimiwa–Tseikuru–Usweni road to pave an extra three-kilometer stretch leading straight to Musyoka’s rural residence in Tseikuru, Kitui County.

Ruto issued the instructions during the launch of the KSh5 billion road project in Mwingi North Constituency, a key stop on his broader four-day Ukambani development tour. Addressing the contractor directly, Ruto insisted that residents living near Musyoka’s home deserve full access to national infrastructure.

“Na wewe contractor, huyu contractor ako hapa, nimesema sitaki hii dhuluma. Hii barabara wakati inatengenezwa wewe iko kilomita tatu ya kwenda kwa ndugu yangu Kalonzo. Pia hiyo iwekwe lami mpaka kwake nyumbani,” he said.

Defending the decision as a national duty, Ruto asserted that his administration serves all Kenyans equally, regardless of political affiliation.

“Si Kalonzo pia ni Mkenya na mimi ni Rais wa Kenya na natumikia watu wote, na hata watu wa Tseikuru ni Wakenya,” he said.

The KSh5 billion highway project aims to transform regional logistics by connecting farming and pastoralist communities in northern Kitui directly to key markets, public services, and commercial hubs. Highlighting the project on social media, Ruto noted that his administration works tirelessly to deliver equitable growth across regions previously left behind.

“One kilometer at a time, we are bridging the economic divide caused by historical marginalization in the sharing of national resources,” he said.

Kalonzo Fires Back from the Opposition Frontline

Meanwhile, Musyoka, a prominent figure in the Ukombozi Alliance, criticized the President’s Ukambani tour, accusing Ruto of using public project launches to launch political attacks against opponents rather than addressing pressing economic burdens facing ordinary citizens.

Speaking at a Thanksgiving service at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tharaka-Nithi County, Musyoka criticized the president’s governance.

“Ruto ako Machakos na ata ameenda kunisifu na ametangaza kwamba yule mpinzani wake sugu ni Kalonzo Musyoka, yule mtu wa miaka arubaini. Lakini Ruto kumbuka for 40 years the Israelites were in the desert, and Kenyans have been in the desert because of poor governorship, theft of public funds, and leaders enriching themselves with public funds,” Musyoka said.

Development Push Across Ukambani

President Ruto continues to leverage nationwide technical launches and infrastructural projects to build momentum for his administration’s development record.

Alongside the road network project, the president initiated several high-impact educational and community projects in Kitui and Makueni counties:

  • Tseikuru National Polytechnic: Launched the construction of a KSh145 million hostel project designed to accommodate 340 students. Ruto announced plans to build a second hostel block alongside 10 new classrooms to cater to the institution’s growing enrollment of 1,600 learners.

  • Support for Basic Education: Handed over a new school bus to Tharaka Girls Secondary School in Tseikuru to enhance student transportation for academic and sporting competitions.

  • Makueni County Upgrades: Officially commissioned Kathekani Senior Secondary School, launched a last-mile electricity connectivity project in Kathekani, and presided over the distribution of land title deeds to traders and residents at Machinery Market.
