‘Thank You for Making My Sacking Official’: Mosiria Fires Back at Sakaja | BossNana International Radio

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has relieved Geoffrey Mosiria of his duties as Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement, and Customer Service during a cabinet reshuffle at City Hall.

In an administrative reorganization announced on Wednesday, Nairobi County Secretary and Head of Public Service Dr. Machel Waikenda designated Zipporah Mwangi to oversee Mosiria’s former docket in an acting capacity. Mwangi will simultaneously retain her current role as Chief Officer for City Culture, Arts, and Tourism.

The restructuring also brings changes to other key sectors. Eng. Samwel Njogu steps in as acting Chief Officer for Mobility, while Housing and Urban Renewal Chief Officer Godfrey Akumali assumes additional responsibilities as acting Chief Officer for Lands.

According to an official directive dated October 21, 2026, signed by Dr. Waikenda, Governor Sakaja approved all reassignments pursuant to county governance frameworks.

“Pursuant to sections 44(3)(a), 45(5) and 64 of the County Governments Act, 2012, and with the approval of His Excellency the Governor, the following officers are hereby reassigned and/or designated to the respective offices of County Chief Officer (CCO)…The changes take effect immediately,” the letter states.

Dismissal Follows 2027 Gubernatorial Declaration

The abrupt exit comes barely ten days after Mosiria publicly announced his intention to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 General Election, placing him in direct political competition with Sakaja.

Self-styled as “Mr. Fix-it,” Mosiria declared his bid on October 11 during a visit by Jubilee Party leaders to Bishop Margaret Wanjiru’s Jesus Is Alive Ministries Church in Nairobi, where he pitched a joint ticket with Wanjiru.

“If you want change in Nairobi, Mosiria is the change. Mosiria will fix Nairobi. Sasa nataka nikuwe gavana, mama akiwa deputy wangu. Twende mbele, mama!” Mosiria told the congregation.

Defending his readiness to helm the capital, Mosiria cited his track record across multiple municipal portfolios. He previously served as Chief Officer for Health Facilities before being reassigned to Environment in August 2024 and later transitioning to Public Participation, Citizen Engagement, and Customer Service in November 2025.

Mosiria joins a growing roster of high-profile candidates seeking the top seat at City Hall in 2027, including Members of Parliament Babu Owino (Embakasi East), James Gakuya (Embakasi North), and Ronald Karauri (Kasarani), alongside businesswoman Agnes Kagure.

Mosiria Breaks Silence, Accuses Sakaja of Years of Frustration

Following the announcement on Wednesday, October 21, Mosiria issued a scathing statement claiming the reshuffle merely formalized a decision Sakaja made back in 2023. He alleged that the governor stripped him of his mandate in December of that year, reassigning accounting responsibilities to junior officers.

“Thank you, my boss, for making my sacking official. However, what you forgot to tell Nairobi residents and Kenyans is that you effectively dismissed me on 28th December 2023, when you took away my constitutionally assigned mandate as an Accounting Officer and handed it to my junior officers as per the attached memo, which was unprocedural,” Mosiria wrote.

The former chief officer detailed sustained humiliation, public and private attacks, and work-related hurdles during his tenure, including an incident while serving in the Health docket that nearly led to legal troubles.

“I endured frustrations, official WhatsApp group attacks, public attacks, and a court case that nearly saw me jailed for six months over alleged contempt of court, which was well planned to kick me out of office, and when I asked why, what followed was a transfer to customer service (Public Participation, Citizens Engagement and Customer Service). I remained silent even as bloggers called for my resignation. All I wanted was an opportunity to work, deliver for Nairobians, and earn back your trust,” Mosiria added.

Mosiria noted that despite attempts to seek reconciliation since December 2023, the governor blocked direct communication and ignored his grievances. Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Nairobi and reaffirmed his unwavering resolve to challenge Sakaja at the ballot box in 2027.

“Today, I am humbled that Nairobi residents are calling upon me to serve them as their governor. I have endured the pain, learned from the challenges, and I am ready to serve,” he concluded.
