UDA Flooded With Aspirants as Over 9,000 Kenyans Line Up for 2027 Party Tickets | BossNana International Radio

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reported that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has so far registered 9,165 aspirants seeking the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Kindiki made the announcement through his official social media channels on Monday, February 2, 2026, just days after UDA opened its aspirants’ registration forum. The registration is taking place ahead of a major aspirants’ meeting scheduled at State House on Wednesday, February 4, where President William Ruto is expected to engage those seeking the party’s endorsement.

A breakdown of the figures shows that 139 aspirants have registered to contest the 47 gubernatorial seats, while 240 are seeking tickets for the 47 Senate positions. Another 274 aspirants are targeting the 47 Woman Representative seats, and 1,205 hopefuls have signed up to vie for the 290 National Assembly seats.

The largest number of aspirants, 7,307, are competing for the 1,450 ward representative seats, reflecting intense interest at the grassroots level.

According to UDA, registration for aspirants will remain open until 90 days before the election date, in line with existing legal requirements.

Earlier, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi had also expressed confidence in the registration exercise while speaking to Luhya radio stations on Friday, January 30. At the time, Mudavadi revealed that 7,772 aspirants had already registered through the party’s online portal and projected a sharp rise in the numbers.

“Kufika usiku wa leo, wale ambao wameonyesha interest katika Kenya mzima ni 7,772, na hii number inazidi kupanda. Huwenda ikifika Jumatano itakuwa imefika 12,000 au 15,000 ya wale ambao wanatafuta kiti cha kisiasa,” Mudavadi said.

The surge in registrations signals early momentum within UDA as the party positions itself for the 2027 elections, with party leaders viewing the high turnout as a sign of confidence in President Ruto’s administration and the party’s national appeal.
