Digital activist and public relations strategist Pauline Njoroge has confirmed her decision to run for a political seat in Nairobi City, delivering a scathing critique of Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration while promising a people-centered revolution in service delivery.
In a revealing interview aired on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Njoroge traced her political journey from her birthplace in Githunguri where she once dreamed of holding office to her current determination to transform Kenya’s struggling capital city.
Njoroge revealed that she was born in Githunguri and always dreamed of holding a political position in her home constituency. However, after relocating to Nairobi, her focus shifted dramatically toward serving the capital city that has become her home.
“Nairobi Haiwork” – Direct Challenge to Sakaja’s Slogan
Njoroge voiced sharp disappointment with Nairobi’s current state, delivering a direct challenge to Governor Johnson Sakaja’s popular campaign slogan, “Nairobi lazima iwork,” by bluntly asserting that “Nairobi haiwork.”
The digital activist highlighted pressing issues affecting city residents, particularly the poor water and sanitation services, which she described as essential for the well-being of Nairobians.
Njoroge argued that the lack of these basic services has left residents struggling and disrupted their daily lives – a critique that resonates with millions of Nairobians who face water shortages, sewage problems, and inadequate waste management despite paying county taxes.
Pauline Njoroge also criticized the current county government’s efforts, declaring that its plans for Nairobi have consistently failed to deliver results for ordinary residents who continue suffering despite political promises.
She stated that the city desperately needs a fresh, people-centered strategy focused on efficient service delivery rather than the photo opportunities and empty rhetoric that have characterized recent county leadership.
“Nairobi needs a new plan; the pain that currently exists, or whatever those in power imagine is the plan, is not working for the people of Nairobi,” she stated.
“We need a new plan for Nairobi, a plan that is people-focused and service-delivery-focused, and I want to be part of a team that actually delivers that plan,” Njoroge added.
Specific Seat to Be Revealed Soon
Njoroge explained that her political ambition stems from a genuine desire to be part of a team that implements transformative strategies, helping Nairobi achieve the world-class status it deserves as East Africa’s largest city and economic hub.
She also confirmed that she will soon reveal the specific seat she plans to contest, keeping political observers guessing about whether she’ll target a Member of County Assembly position, a Woman Representative seat, or even a senatorial run.
“Yes, I will be vying in Nairobi; I will communicate that in due time,” she said.
Widely recognized for her digital activism and public relations work, Njoroge declared her firm alignment with the United Opposition, delivering a significant boost to the coalition’s efforts to challenge President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.
She stated that she stands prepared to leverage her considerable skills and experience to support the coalition’s bid for power in the 2027 elections, bringing her substantial social media following and communication expertise into the opposition’s campaign arsenal.
