Kenyan students now have an exciting opportunity to work in France through the French Embassy’s Language Teaching Assistant Program for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The program offers 170 positions for Kenyans to teach English in public schools across France, including its overseas departments, for a seven-month period. Participants will help French students improve their English proficiency while gaining valuable professional skills, cultural exposure, and international experience.

The program, according to the French Embassy in Kenya, targets university students and fresh graduates who meet certain eligibility criteria.

“This initiative provides a platform for young Kenyans to enhance their teaching skills, immerse themselves in French culture, and contribute to educational exchange between our countries,” reads a notice from the Embassy.

Application Process and Key Dates

Applications are welcomed from November 15, 2025, and will close on January 15, 2026. Pre-selection will take place in January; thereafter, interviews will be carried out in January and February 2026. Final results will be released in May, with official teaching assignments announced in June 2026.

Applicants must be 20 to 35 years old, enrolled in a university, TVET institution, or Alliance Française, and have completed most of their studies in Kenya. They must also hold a minimum B1 level certificate in French.

The selection process does not consider the academic performance of a candidate alone but also the adaptability of a candidate to a new cultural and educational environment. The Embassy has urged applicants to submit all required documents before the deadline to avoid disqualification.

To stay updated on announcements, students are encouraged to join the official WhatsApp group via chat.whatsapp.com/I4KGpzZ69IxFud.

“More detailed information and application guidelines are also available on the French Embassy’s Kenya website: ke.ambafrance.org,” the notice further reads.

This program forms part of France’s larger undertaking toward deepening educational and cultural exchange with Kenya. For the participants, it is an opportunity to work and live in France, interact with the locals, and enhance their global perspectives.

Past beneficiaries have praised the initiative for its hands-on teaching experience, cultural immersion, and career growth, with many noting it opened doors to further academic and professional opportunities both in Kenya and abroad.
