President William Ruto insists he is the right man for the job, declaring that he possesses the right mix of experience, education, and resolve to usher Kenya into a new chapter of growth and transformation.
During a meeting with leaders from Tharaka-Nithi County at State House, Nairobi, Ruto dismissed his critics and doubled down on his promise to deliver on the country’s top priorities.
He highlighted his long track record in public service, academic background, and intimate grasp of Kenya’s challenges as reasons he’s best suited to lead.
“I have enough experience. I have been an MP for 15 years and I have been Deputy President for 10 years. Isn’t that experience enough?” Ruto asked.
The President drew bold comparisons between his leadership qualities and those of Kenya’s past presidents, saying, “I have the courage of Jomo, the understanding of Moi, the education of Kibaki, and the plan we shared with Uhuru Kenyatta.”
He emphasized that his youth and humble upbringing offer him a rare perspective that keeps him grounded in the real struggles of everyday Kenyans.
“I am not very old. Don’t you think I am youthful” he asked. “I was born in the village, so I know the problems Kenyans are going through.”
Ruto said he has no excuse to fall short, noting that his blend of experience, education, and the opportunity at hand puts him in a strong position to deliver.
“Why would I fail to deliver? I do not have an excuse, so I have to do the difficult job,” he declared.
President Ruto at the same time brushed off mounting criticism of his leadership style and policy choices, saying he’s too focused on delivering results to be distracted by political noise.
“That is why some people are making noise, but I do not have time for that,” he said.
“Kenya has never had the opportunity to be led by a person who has experience, education and knowledge about the country like me.”
He stressed that true transformation demands bold, timely decisions, arguing that Kenya’s progress has long been hindered by leaders afraid to act decisively.
“Our country will only move forward if leaders make decisions that are not only necessary and bold, but also right,” he asserted.
Ruto highlighted key gains under his administration, including advancements in Universal Health Coverage, affordable housing, education access, and agricultural reforms. He noted that Kenyans are beginning to feel the tangible benefits of these flagship policies.
“I am pleased that our decisions in these areas are paying dividends to the citizens of our country,” he added.
