The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the official color coding for ballot papers and ballot box lids ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The electoral body revealed the update in a social media announcement, explaining that each ballot paper will match the exact color of its designated ballot box lid. This system aims to simplify the voting process, helping both voters and election officials seamlessly identify the six elective positions on election day.
Under the new scheme, white signifies the presidential race, while green represents the Member of the National Assembly.
Voters casting ballots for Member of County Assembly positions will drop their beige papers into matching boxes, while yellow marks the senatorial contest. Meanwhile, light blue denotes the gubernatorial race, and a shade of purple designates the Woman Representative position.
In tandem with the announcement, the IEBC called on unregistered Kenyans to register as voters at constituency offices and Huduma Centres nationwide. The 2027 General Elections will feature six distinct ballot papers and corresponding lid colors, ensuring a streamlined process for all voters across the country.
