Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has officially endorsed Nyali MP Mohamed Ali as the United Opposition’s candidate for the Mombasa gubernatorial race in 2027. Speaking during a high-profile rally in Mombasa on Saturday, Musyoka confirmed that the coalition will grant a direct ticket to the lawmaker popularly known as “Jicho Pevu.”
The former Vice President noted that the decision followed extensive consultations with key opposition figures, signaling a unified front to clinch the coastal county’s top seat.
Musyoka framed the endorsement as a collective move by a heavyweight political circle including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Eugene Wamalwa, and JB Muturi. He rallied the crowd to support Ali, praising the MP’s track record in exposing corruption as a primary qualification for leading the city.
Musyoka defended the move by pointing to the lawmaker’s history of investigative work and anti-corruption advocacy. He stated that this track record makes the legislator the ideal candidate to steer Mombasa’s future, reinforcing that the entire coalition remains committed to supporting his gubernatorial ambition.
