Matiang’i Promises Ruthless Crackdown on Violence if Elected President | BossNana International Radio

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary and 2027 presidential contender Dr. Fred Matiang’i has launched a sharp critique against the surge in violence and politically motivated thuggery, promising a return to strict law and order if he wins the presidency. Speaking in Nyamira on Friday, Matiang’i described a deteriorating national landscape where essential services are failing and insecurity has become a common threat to citizens.

He lamented the current state of the nation, highlighting the collapse of healthcare and education systems alongside the rising tide of daily violence.

Matiang’i argued that the country cannot afford to reach a point where children miss school, hospitals run out of food and medicine, and people live in constant fear of physical assault. He positioned his potential leadership as a corrective force against what he characterized as a systematic breakdown of public safety and institutional reliability.

“Hatuwezi kufika mahali eti watoto hawaendi shule, sijui matibabu hakuna, hakuna chakula kwa hospitali, watu wanapigwa kila siku,” he said.

The former Interior Cabinet Secretary, who once commanded the nation’s security apparatus, singled out political actors accused of sponsoring militia-style violence. He warned that the era where individuals break the law with state protection must come to an immediate end.

“One pledge I can make to Kenya as a presidential candidate, if I was given an opportunity to be president of this country, there will be no goon nonsense in this country. Lazima serikali iwe serikali, na wakora ni wakora,” Matiang’i declared.

The Jubilee Deputy Party Leader also criticized what he described as the selective enforcement of the law. He argued that current authorities often overlook crimes committed by those linked to powerful figures, allowing “friends of the state” to operate above the legal system.

It cannot work!” he said.

Matiang’i insisted that the government should treat all criminals equally, regardless of their political connections. He questioned the legitimacy of a system that grants a “license for stupidity” to those in the inner circle, maintaining that such a double standard undermines the very foundation of the republic.

Matiang’i promised a return to strict adherence to the rule of law. He insisted that the state will deal with criminal elements firmly and legally, regardless of their political connections or social standing.

“Violence, goonism, and failing systems have no place in the Kenya we want to build,” he said.

The former Cabinet Secretary framed his 2027 presidential bid as a mission to rebuild broken institutions and restore public trust. He explained that the foundation of a prosperous nation depends on a government’s ability to protect its people uniformly.

“We must restore order, uphold the rule of law, and protect every Kenyan without fear or favor.”
