“It Posted Itself”: Creator Blames Phone Update for Leaking Private Mama Ida Odinga Footage | BossNana International Radio

A digital content creator has issued a public apology following the viral spread of a private video featuring Mama Ida Odinga. The footage, which captured a candid moment in her office, sparked online debate after it appeared to ignore a direct request for privacy from the former prime minister’s wife.

The clip shows Ida Odinga in a casual conversation with close associates, including well-known political activist Calvin Okoth, popularly known as “Gaucho.” The group had gathered at her office to celebrate Gaucho’s birthday when the recording took place.

A Request for Privacy Ignored

In the video, Ida quickly notices the camera and asks the individual filming to stop. Her request was clear and immediate.

“Don’t take my pictures without my permission,” she said.

Despite this objection, the recording continued, and the footage eventually found its way onto various social media platforms days later. The incident raised questions about the boundaries between content creation and the personal privacy of public figures.

“It Posted by Itself”: The Creator’s Defense

The man behind the camera, identified as Manuu, has now come forward to clarify the situation. He claims the leak resulted from a technical mishap rather than a deliberate act of defiance. According to Manuu, the pressure began to mount after he received several high-level phone calls regarding the breach of privacy.

Manuu explains that he simply wanted to document the “fun moments” of the birthday celebration and had already captured the footage before the verbal warning. He insists the video sat in his “drafts” and only went live due to a phone update.

“Though Ida asked me not to record, I had already taken the clip. When I was updating my phone, it posted by itself. I have received calls from her PA, protocol officer and even a lawyer. I just want to say sorry. I did not think the video would leak and be such a big issue. The video didn’t mean anything bad. We were just conversing before the cutting of the cake when I decided to film. I want to apologise,” he said.
