The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has identified 27 market-driven courses for students who scored Grades C, D, and D- in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

KUCCPS revealed that these courses are primarily offered in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country, providing viable career pathways for learners who did not meet university entry requirements.

TVET Courses Offer Path to Employment

The programs span certificate, diploma, and artisan levels, targeting learners keen to pursue tertiary education despite missing university cut-off grades.

KUCCPS noted that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader plan to strengthen TVET institutions as a pathway to formal employment and self-employment opportunities.

KUCCPS Course Entry Requirements for Students With Grade C and Below

KUCCPS has outlined clear entry requirements for students interested in pursuing the 27 marketable courses across TVET institutions:

  • Diploma Level: Learners must have scored at least Grade C- in their KCSE
  • Certificate Level: A minimum of Grade D is required
  • Artisanal Courses: Learners must have achieved at least Grade D-

This update comes just a month after the Ministry of Education released the 2025 KCSE results. According to the official figures:

  • 270,715 candidates scored Grade C+ and above
  • 507,131 candidates achieved Grade C-
  • 634,082 candidates attained a pass grade of D+ and above

The new course placements aim to give students who did not meet university entry requirements a practical pathway to tertiary education and employable skills, opening doors to Kenya’s growing technical and vocational sector.
