“Who Can Beat Ruto?” Karen Nyamu Dismisses Opposition’s Chances | BossNana International Radio

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has dismissed the opposition, asserting that none of its members can mount a serious challenge against President William Ruto in the upcoming general elections.

Nyamu described individuals who recently joined the opposition as united only by a shared fate of losing to Ruto, despite growing chants calling for him to serve a single term.

Taking to her social media platform on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the outspoken senator predicted that the one-term chants would ultimately amount to nothing, hinting at the possibility that the opposition might pursue an election petition at the Supreme Court after the polls.

“I laugh when I see people who just joined the opposition loudly pushing the wantam agenda. Who will tell them? Who will tell them that opposition in Kenya has only one fate, even with fierce competition?” Karen Nyamu posed.

She expressed confidence that the opposition’s recent momentum is unlikely to translate into electoral success, signaling strong support for President Ruto’s bid for another term.

Nyamu further questioned which opposition figure could realistically challenge Ruto, naming key leaders.

“This time round, honestly, I see no serious match for Dr William Ruto. So, when you shout wantam with your chest, are you betting on Kalonzo? Matiang’i? To beat WSR? Andikeni wantam pole pole mnatushoutia andindikeni kama ni possibility. After wantam, there will be kimeibiwo. My advice is spare some energy for the Supreme Court ruling tears in September 2027,” she added.

The senator’s remarks come amid growing calls from the opposition for a one-term limit for President Ruto, which Nyamu dismissed as unlikely to succeed. She suggested that even if opposition leaders consolidate behind a single candidate, their efforts could ultimately end up in a Supreme Court petition following the elections.
