Ugali Argument Turns Deadly as 20-Year-Old Allegedly Stabs Father in Lang’ata | BossNana International Radio

Police in Lang’ata sub-county have launched investigations into a tragic domestic incident in which a 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his father to death following a heated dispute over the preparation of ugali.

The deceased, identified as Joseph Okello, 70, was killed in Mugumoini location after a confrontation with his son, Peter Olwenye, reportedly turned violent. Witnesses told police that the argument began in the family home when Okello questioned his son’s decision to start cooking ugali using water that had not fully boiled.

According to those present, the disagreement intensified when the elderly man challenged the reasoning behind the cooking method, triggering a bitter exchange that quickly escalated into a fatal altercation.

Mugumoini Senior Chief George Mukuria said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack and may have been under the influence of drugs at the time.

The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the back and neck and died on the spot, Mukuria reported.

Following the incident, village elders and local youths mobilized to track down the suspect. Their search led them to a hideout in the Soweto area, where they apprehended Olwenye and handed him over to officers from Lang’ata Police Station who were on patrol.

Police officers have since taken the body of the deceased to Nairobi Funeral Home, formerly City Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.

Authorities are now piecing together the events leading up to the killing as they prepare to process the suspect in accordance with the law.
