Sharp-Eyed Thika Trader Outsmarts Iranian Duo in Sh15,000 Stupefying Theft Plot | BossNana International Radio

Detectives in Thika have arrested two Iranian nationals after an audacious stupefying theft that left a Kenyan shopkeeper Sh15,000 poorer.

Police identified the suspects as 56-year-old Heidari Mansoior Eslam and his 40-year-old accomplice, Babaei Ahmad Mirzaaga. Officers moved in swiftly after a sharp-eyed mobile phone dealer spotted the pair entering his premises and immediately linked them to a similar theft reported in the area just a month earlier.

Alert Trader Connects the Dots

According to police, the two men walked into the shop posing as genuine customers interested in buying a mobile phone. However, their behavior raised red flags. The shopkeeper recalled details from a previous incident at a nearby outlet, where criminals allegedly used stupefying tactics to steal cash from a trader.

Acting decisively, the shop owner contacted a colleague who had fallen victim to the earlier scam. When the second trader arrived at the scene, he immediately identified the two foreigners as the same individuals who had stolen Sh15,000 from his shop.

Quick Police Response Averts Mob Justice

As word spread, members of the public confronted the suspects, drawing a hostile crowd that threatened to administer mob justice. Police officers arrived in time, dispersed the crowd, and escorted the suspects to safety before the situation escalated.

Authorities detained the two at Thika Police Station, where they remain in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly. Residents can report crimes anonymously through the DCI hotline by calling 0800 722 203 toll-free or sending a WhatsApp message to 0709 570 000.

Police have also cautioned against taking the law into one’s own hands, emphasizing that swift reporting enables officers to act quickly and prevent both crime and unnecessary violence.
