“Do What You Did in Venezuela”: Gachagua Calls on Trump to Intervene in Kenya | BossNana International Radio

Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto on Sunday, accusing him of protecting alleged drug barons within his Cabinet.

Speaking during a church service at AIPCA Kiratina in Kiambu County, Gachagua challenged the President to start his anti-narcotics crackdown from within his own government.

“Nimeona jana ukisema mambo ya wale wanauza cocaine na heroin, ati utadeal nao, kwanza futa wale mawaziri uko nao wawili wanajulikana kwa kuuza madawa. Kwanza futa hao drug barons uko nao kwa Cabinet ndio tuamine uko genuine,” he said.

“I had that programme running ukaiharibu, sasa kwanza futa hao majamaa uko nayo kwa Cabinet ndio tujua uko serious.”

Gachagua drags US into Kenya’s domestic politics

In a surprising turn, Gachagua urged US President Donald Trump to intervene in Kenya, referencing Venezuela’s recent operation that led to the capture of President Nicolas Maduro. He claimed the same individuals allegedly behind the Minnesota fraud were still benefiting from government contracts at the expense of local farmers.

“Mambo ya Minnesota, pesa iliibiwa, wale watu wamehusika ni business partners wa Rais. Mwenye mall iko Eastleigh ndiye mwenye hiyo scheme. We are asking you Trump, don’t bother about the extradition process in Kenya, wewe fanya vile ulifanya Venezuela, because Ruto amesema jamaa asitolewe huku,” Gachagua said.

He also alleged that one individual linked to the scandal continued to disrupt local agriculture by receiving duty-free rice contracts, adding:

“Huyo jamaa ndiye bado anahangaisha wakulima wa Mwea… awekwe kwa hio ndege pia yeye.”

Kenya Kwanza government under fire

Gachagua criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration for poor governance, citing delays in capitation funds for schools and inequitable placement of students in national institutions.

“Tunaenda hii January kama hakuna pesa ya capitation. Ministry inasema kuna pesa lakini kama hakupeana ya last year, ya hii mwaka ndio iko? This is a totally confused government, fish rots from the head,” he said.

He further alleged that children from some regions were being denied opportunities in national schools, while spots were given to students from other areas.

“Watoto wetu wamenyimwa nafasi kwa shule za national za hapa kwetu, wanapelekwa kwa day schools, shule zetu zinapewa watu wengine,” he stated.

Dismissing opinion polls

The former deputy president dismissed recent opinion polls showing Ruto in the lead, branding them as fabricated tools to boost the President’s public image.

“Huyu kasongo amefika mwisho. Amekataliwa Kisii, amekataliwa Western, sasa anafanya opinion poll ya uongo. Those are fake opinion polls, hawa watu wa Infotrak na TIFA, these are fake people,” he said.

He reiterated his confidence in the DCP, declaring the party to be on an upward trajectory:

“Ignore those opinion polls, DCP is the most popular party in the country na tuendelee kujenga chama yetu.”

Ruto’s economic promises and attacks on Uhuru

Gachagua also criticized President Ruto’s economic rhetoric, mocking his frequent references to global models like Singapore.

“Hii mtu anatubeba ufala, ati anataka kutupeleka Singapore. Ulikuja ukapata masomo inafanya ukaharibu, ukaharibu afya, don’t give us that Singapore nonsense. Kwanza malizana na bottom up,” he said.

He warned the President against attacking former President Uhuru Kenyatta, calling for respect toward retired leaders:

“Kasongo, Uhuru Kenyatta is not your agemate, you’re a young man, respect our retired president. Wacha kutuma hao vijana wadogo kutusi Uhuru.”

Gachagua at the same time directly challenged Ruto to address him personally instead of sending aides to confront him:

“Kama wewe ni mwanaume acha kutuma Junet, Wanga na Ichung’wah kumtusi, tokea uongee na sisi tukuamkie. I have been very decent with you, tokea so that I can also undress you, nimekuwa nikiguzia hii ya juujuu. Wachana na Uhuru Kenyatta ukijipiga kifua ulimshinda, tokea kumenyana wewe na pia sisi tutokee.”
