Ruto Praises U.S. Investors and Tourists for Boosting Kenya’s Economy | BossNana International Radio

President William Ruto has lauded the strengthening partnership between Kenya and the United States, emphasizing the critical role American tourists and investors continue to play in driving Kenya’s economic growth.

Addressing the 12th National and County Governments Coordinating Summit at State House on Wednesday, President Ruto described the Kenya–U.S. relationship as “solid,” underscoring that while each country pursues its own interests, sustained cooperation has significantly advanced shared goals.

“The relationship we have with the government of the United States is one I am very proud of. Cooperation has enhanced our mutual interests,” he said.

Ruto revealed that the United States has officially become Kenya’s biggest tourist source market, surpassing long-standing contributors such as the United Kingdom and Italy. “Tourists from the United States have overtaken traditional markets, including the UK and Italy. Last year alone, 306,000 Americans visited Kenya, making it our biggest tourist market,” he noted.

He also highlighted the growing influence of U.S. investors, stating that American firms continue to rank among the largest contributors to Kenya’s economic expansion. Ruto added that Kenya is on track to become the first African nation to conclude a bilateral trade agreement with the United States, signalling deeper commercial engagement between the two countries.

His remarks come as Kenya and the U.S. move forward with a new five-year cooperation framework, signed in Washington on Thursday, aimed at strengthening collaboration across trade, investment, security, and development.
