Eldoret’s healthcare sector is staring at a dramatic upheaval as former Kesses MP Dr. Swarup Mishra prepares to lose control of six prime Mediheal properties, scheduled for auction on December 10, 2025. The forced sale exposes the mounting debt burden threatening the sustainability of Mishra’s healthcare empire.
Mishra, who has faced allegations of illegal organ trafficking at his Mediheal facilities, is now grappling with financial pressures that put his land, hospitals, and farms worth hundreds of millions of shillings at risk. The unfolding situation underscores a broader crisis of financial mismanagement, legal battles, and reputational damage.

The properties listed for sale are central to Mediheal Hospital and Fertility Centre Ltd, including commercial hospital buildings, private residences, and productive farmland across Eldoret Municipality and Uasin Gishu County. Among the most valuable assets is a 0.5336-hectare parcel housing operational hospital facilities, and a 0.2421-hectare plot featuring a five-storey hospital block, a double-storey pharmacy, and a laboratory wing, key structures that define the Mediheal brand.
Other properties on the auction block include a 0.6500-hectare residential maisonette jointly registered to Mishra and his wife Pallavi, a 1.249-hectare Kipkorgot property along the Kaptagat–Eldoret road, and a 3.91-hectare farm in Mogobich. Additional parcels in Pioneer and Ngeria highlight the magnitude of potential financial losses.
The crisis has been compounded by unpaid government bills. The National Assembly Committee on Health revealed that the defunct NHIF still owes Mediheal Sh51 million, worsening cash flow and pushing the healthcare chain closer to insolvency.
As auction day approaches, stakeholders in the healthcare industry are closely watching the outcome, which could signal the end of Mishra’s once-dominant healthcare reign.
