Matiang’i: Differences Within Opposition Are Healthy, Not Division | BossNana International Radio

Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Fred Matiang’i has downplayed concerns over ideological differences within the united opposition coalition, emphasizing that diverse opinions reflect healthy compromise rather than division.

Speaking at a consultative meeting with Jubilee Party county officials in Nairobi on Monday, November 17, 2025, Matiang’i said the coalition remains committed to wide consultations before making decisions that truly represent the will of Kenyans.

“The decision to belong to the united opposition is a party decision, and I represent Jubilee in it on behalf of the party. We will be there; no one has lied to us that it will be a walk in the park, that we will sit down, and agree on everything the next day,” he said.

Constructive Engagement and Grassroots Leadership

Matiang’i urged party members to engage constructively and use persuasion to move the coalition forward.

“I believe this campaign that we are going to involve ourselves in, we are going to conquer this time around with love. Sisi hatuwezi kuingia kwa hiyo mambo ya kutukanana na watu. That is not the standard of Jubilee; that is below the standard of Jubilee. It is not our business to describe other political parties; our business is to work or argue with them, or convince them so that we move forward together,” he added.

He also called on Jubilee leaders to act as ambassadors at the grassroots level, stressing that their conduct will be vital to keeping the party’s presidential aspirations alive.

Patience and Inclusive Dialogue

Matiang’i emphasized that building a strong and united opposition front requires deliberate dialogue, inclusivity, and patience.

“All those people in there are not fools. We must talk and consult from every sphere. When we disagree, we will talk it out. At the end of the day, we are all Kenyans and fully aware of what the country needs,” he said.

He reassured officials that differences of opinion within the coalition are natural and part of a healthy political process, reflecting the commitment of leaders to work together for the country’s greater good.
