Malaysia Backs President Ruto’s Vision to Turn Kenya into a First-World Nation | BossNana International Radio

President William Ruto’s vision to steer Kenya into first-world status has received strong support from visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who expressed confidence that the goal is achievable and that Kenya is on the right path.

President William Ruto has often cited Malaysia and Singapore as models for Kenyan development. Malaysia, one of the renowned Asian Tigers celebrated for rapid economic transformation, has expressed firm support and pledged to partner with Kenya on what it calls a “transformational journey.”

During a joint press briefing at State House, Nairobi, on Monday, Prime Minister Ibrahim praised Kenya for making sound policy choices that he said will shape the country’s progress in the near future.

He singled out affordable housing as a cornerstone of Kenya’s development agenda capable of lifting the country from its developing-nation status.

“We have seen under your stewardship the determination to propel not only the economy but the infrastructure, and to ensure that Kenya emerges as a great nation,” Ibrahim said.

The Malaysian leader also lauded President Ruto’s determination and the speed at which Kenya is rolling out affordable housing projects.

“I have seen the potential. I have seen the enormous strides made in the housing sector, which is truly commendable. I don’t think many countries, including Malaysia, have moved that fast or that effectively, because you have a passion to provide housing for the people, particularly the poor,” he added.

Prime Minister Ibrahim said he was confident that development in Kenya under President Ruto will yield tangible results.

“What appeals to me is your determination to develop this country. I sincerely believe you have the resolve, the tenacity, and the conviction to make it work.”

President Ruto on his part said the visit highlighted Kenya’s readiness to emulate Malaysia’s development model, built on discipline, strategic planning, and a commitment to excellence.

“This is a proud moment because you bring home many of the things we have discussed as a country; what is possible when the right decisions are made, when we avoid mediocrity and when we remain focused on taking our country forward,” Ruto said.

He added that Kenya’s new national roadmap draws inspiration from Malaysia and other Asian Tigers that transformed their economies through long-term planning and institutional discipline.

Kenya and Malaysia sealed various pacts across major sectors in a bid to strengthen bilateral relations. They included a Bilateral Air Services Agreement to enhance connectivity between the two nations, an MoU on Tourism to advance joint sector development, and an MoU between the National Chambers of Commerce of both countries with the aim of encouraging trade and investment.
