Detectives have launched a hunt for a house girl who allegedly stole a loaded pistol and cash from her employer’s home in Nairobi’s upscale Kileleshwa estate.
Police reports indicate that the domestic worker was alone in the house on Monday, November 3, 2025, when she allegedly made off with the valuables.
The employer, who is a licensed firearm holder, said he and his family had left to run errands but returned to find the portable safe missing from their bedroom wardrobe. Inside the safe were a Glock pistol with two magazines, USD 1,950, 600 euros, KSh 5,000, assorted jewelry, land title deeds, and several electronic gadgets.
The investigators believe that the suspect concealed the safe inside a carton before her escape. Security footage from the compound captured her calmly walking out with the box. Guards on duty said they didn’t question her, assuming she had been sent on an errand.
Nairobi Police Commander George Seda confirmed that detectives are tracking down the woman for interrogation and to recover the stolen firearm, valuables and cash.
Authorities fear the suspect might attempt to sell the weapon, potentially putting it in the hands of criminals.
