Wamuchomba Vows Action After Kenya Moja Youth Forum in Funyula | BossNana International Radio

Gathoni Wamuchomba promised to take action as early as next week after holding a meeting with youths in Funyula, where hundreds of youths gathered to lament challenges facing their communities.

During a Kenya Moja youth forum in Funyula Constituency on Sunday, August 31, 2023, Wamuchomba insisted that youths will no longer sit passively on the sides of governance..

“The youths gathered and told us nothing is for them without them. From Rasta man, Butcher man to Campus girl, they spoke and gave the Kenya Moja MPs the reason to hold this government to account,” she said.

According to Wamuchomba, the youth demanded swift action to tackle financial mismanagement in public institutions, particularly corruption within the Social Health Authority (SHA) system.

“They told us to listen and act on the SHA looting and corruption, and call out duty bearers to order. They want a system that does not arrest them arbitrarily and which will create opportunities for them,” she added.

Wamuchomba assured the youth that their concerns would not go unheard, pledging firm action.

“They want to be on the decision-making tables. I listened, I heard. Watch out for action next week,” she said, signaling that Kenya Moja MPs are preparing concrete steps to address youth demands.

The meeting at Funyula, convened by Wilberforce Oundo, was attended by the likes of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Bomachoge Borabu MP Obadia Barongo, and Kitutu Masaba MP Cleve Gisairo.

Wamuchomba commended the youths for being proactive, indicating that their role is important in combating corruption and promoting transparency in the public service.

“The energy and insight from our young people today prove that they are ready to contribute meaningfully to governance. Their demand for transparency in SHA funds shows a new generation that refuses to tolerate mismanagement,” she said.

The Kenya Moja Alliance legislators are gearing up to table a motion seeking the removal of Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale when Parliament reconvenes.

They accuse Duale of overseeing rampant corruption at Afya House and are pressing President William Ruto to hold him accountable.

According to the leaders, graft within the Social Health Authority has reached alarming levels, and they insist the president must take bold action instead of issuing empty statements.
