Eldoret Man Accused of Australia Job Scam Ordered to Repay Victims by End of the Month | BossNana International Radio

An Eldoret court has ordered a man accused of swindling 18 job seekers out of more than Ksh. 12 million to begin refunding their money by September 29, 2025.

Prosecutors say Joseph Kipkoech Keino tricked his victims, including university students and taxi operators, by claiming he could secure them high-paying jobs in Australia.

The court heard that Keino lured them with promises of hotel jobs abroad, where they would supposedly work as servicemen and servicewomen earning Ksh.900,000 per month, with free food and accommodation.

While presiding over the case, Principal Magistrate Cherono Kesse warned the suspect that if he failed to obey her order, she would cancel his Ksh.3 million bond immediately.

Kesse instructed him to pay the first installment of Ksh. 150,000 before the end of the month to avoid being sent back to Eldoret GK remand prison.

She further directed him to appear in court on October 6 to confirm whether he had complied with her orders.

The accused allegedly swindled the victims of more than Ksh. 12 million through false pretenses.

According to the charge sheet, he collected the money from 18 victims on various dates between March and July 2024.

Court documents show that each victim paid him amounts ranging from Ksh.300,000 to Ksh.1.8 million after he promised to secure them jobs as hotel workers in Australia.

Kipkoech Keino first appeared in court in September 2024, where he denied the charges and secured his release on a Ksh. 3 million bond with a surety of the same amount.
