EACC Confirms No Deal Yet in Obado’s Ksh 505M Corruption Case | BossNana International Radio

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) plans to drop corruption charges against former Migori Governor Okoth Obado.

In collaboration with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the ODPP sought a one-month adjournment to finalize ongoing negotiations for an out-of-court settlement through plea bargains. The court heard that the parties are in advanced discussions and need more time to finalize the agreements.

Obado, four of his children, and several co-accused face allegations in the Ksh 505 million corruption case.

The EACC, however, clarified that it has not yet signed the plea bargain agreement.

The case has been pushed to Friday this week.

Initially, the EACC sought to recover more than Ksh 1.9 billion that Obado and over 20 others allegedly siphoned from the Migori County Government through fictitious procurement contracts.

As part of a settlement, Obado agreed with the EACC to surrender properties valued at Ksh 428 million.
