Freshly Designed CHAN Trophy Celebrates African Football and Culture | BossNana International Radio

The new-look CHAN trophy has landed in Kenya ahead of Saturday’s finals at Kasarani Stadium, signaling the climax of an electrifying tournament. CHAN Ambassador and Harambee Stars former captain Victor Wanyama had the heavily guarded trophy in his company under the watchful eyes of CAF security officials.

The trophy toured media houses, beginning with national media KBC before stopping over at NTV, KTN, and TV47. Nairobi is its final stop before being lifted by winners on Saturday, having already toured co-host nations Tanzania and Uganda.

The refreshed trophy carries a bold new identity, celebrating its deep-rooted connection to African football and culture. With a sleek blend of gold and silver, it represents both the glory and the elevation of status of the CHAN tournament. Its 54 specially crafted lines encircle the trophy, each of which symbolizes one of Africa’s member associations and represents the football history of the continent based on passion, talent, and generations of players and fans’ aspirations. At the top is a map of Africa, which denotes the pan-African nature of the tournament.

“The chance to host this CHAN tournament has been a big motivation for the young local players. It has been a success so far, the organisation, the way CAF has arranged everything, and the group was really electric with fans,” Wanyama said.

The tournament resumes on Tuesday after a two-day break, with Madagascar facing Sudan in the first semi-final at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam, at 5:30 pm, followed by defending champions Senegal against Morocco at Nelson Mandela Stadium, Kampala, at 8:30 pm.

CAF has also set substantial prize money to reward participating teams. Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will each receive $450,000 (Ksh58 million). The four semi-finalists will earn Ksh77 million, the third team will earn Ksh90 million, the runners-up Ksh155 million, and the champions a staggering Ksh453 million.
