“Cartels Won’t Scare Me”: Mohammed Ali Declares Independence Ahead of 2027 | BossNana International Radio

Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has reiterated his political independence before the 2027 General Election, avowing that individuals or parties shall not determine his next move.

While addressing Mombasa residents on Saturday, August 2, 2025, Ali said that his future direction shall be determined by the people’s will and his conscience.

“Nobody can control me. My name is Mohammed Ali,” he said. “ I came to Nyali without a party. I came independent, and people chose me for who I am.”

In a post shared on his X account the following day, Ali added a cryptic message that hinted at a calculated approach to the next election cycle.

“There will be no warnings. No hints. In times of great anticipation, silence breeds strategy, and strategy defines victory,” he wrote. “My path forward is grounded in faith, first in God, then in the people of Mombasa.”

Ali, who successfully defended his Nyali seat under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) banner in 2022, pointed out that he won re-election with a stronger mandate, garnering 10,000 more votes than in his first run. Still, he made it clear that his allegiance remains with the people of Mombasa, not with the party.

“I came back with UDA, and the people gave me 10,000 more votes,” he said. “And if I want to go forward, I will decide on which path I will walk – my path. What they want is what my heart wants.”

Ali also addressed potential political opposition ahead of the 2027 election, saying he remains unfazed by any alliances that may form to block his way.

“Whether we will have a combination of cartels against me, we will face them head-on,” he declared. “TIt is not about money but about the ideologies.”

Amid growing speculation about his political future, Mohammed Ali reaffirmed his commitment to Nyali, urging his critics and supporters alike to focus on the present.

“Let me finish my mandate in Nyali,” he said. “I only have two years left, with a lot of developments in place..Allow me to serve the people of Nyali first.” With that, he distanced himself from premature 2027 campaign talk.

Tensions between Ali and the UDA leadership became public in April 2025 when he accused the party’s secretary general of plotting to block his 2027 ticket. But Ali pushed back defiantly.

“We have many options on the table,” he said. “I came as a first-timer through independence; the second term, I came through UDA, and I am here telling him again that nothing is going to stop us.”
