FBI Crackdown: Cop Shakur, Osoi Arrested After Forming Anti-Brutality Movement | BossNana International Radio

Former prison officer Jackson Kuria Kimani, better known as Cop Shakur was arrested on Wednesday, July 30.

DCI officers arrested Kuria at the Kahawa Law Courts, where he had attended a court hearing. As they arrested him, they led him to the DCI headquarters for interrogation.

Before this, Kuria had posted a video on his social media platforms that recorded the tense moment when the officers accused him in front of the court.

“Identify yourself. They want to arrest me. I’m here at Kahawa Law Courts to support a friend. The only thing I have is a Kenyan flag. Identify yourself,” Kuria says in the video. The officer then shows his identification card.

After inspecting the ID, Kuria, still seated in a vehicle, asks, “I have seen it. What am I being arrested for?” Moments later, he exits the car and surrenders to the officers.

The arrest came on the heels of Tuesday when former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier and security expert Patrick Osoi was arrested.

This comes after Cop Shakur, Osoi, and police constable Hiram Kimathi recently announced the formation of the Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI) movement, a group aiming to defend victims of extrajudicial killings.

“Having served as a KDF Special Forces soldier, NIS officer, and a US Army Veteran, I have taken the solemn initiative of bringing together cops who share the same ideology of fighting for Kenyans,” Osoi wrote.

He also mentioned that he plans to run for president in the 2027 election. The collective of the FBI, Osoi noted, will advocate for the rights of police brutality victims, especially those injured or killed during the protests on June 25, 2024.

“Our mandate is to bring justice to our people, and we will fight tooth and nail to achieve it,” Osoi added.

DCI Nabs Ex-KDF Officer Osoi

Authorities arrested Osoi on the night of Tuesday, July 29, and booked him at Muthaiga Police Station. He appeared at the Kahawa Law Courts yesterday, where the DCI accused him of forming an outlawed activist group. Investigators allege that Osoi attempted to recruit both former and current security officers to resist what he calls “illegal orders.”

His post, posted on X (formerly Twitter), became an instant viral hit with over 400 comments, 900 retweets, and over 260,000 views. The DCI expressed concern that the viral traction could stir public unrest and attract hostile elements.

“That this viral spread increases the risk of rapid escalation, of unrest, public disorder and coordination of violent acts while investigations are ongoing,” read the DCI notice.

Following his arrest, Osoi reportedly led detectives to several empty residences across Nairobi, which investigators suspect are AirBnBs he may have used. The DCI believes he’s hiding the location of a secret residence that could hold critical evidence.

Osoi now faces a string of serious charges, including preparing to commit a felony, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and offences linked to terrorism recruitment and facilitation.

The DCI has asked the court to allow them to search his properties on suspicion of firearm possession and is also seeking to hold him at Muthaiga Police Station for 14 more days as investigations continue.

“The offence under investigation is serious in nature and carries a severe penalty upon conviction. That the custodial orders sought are not meant to punish the respondent (Osoi) but allow investigators adequate time and thoroughly complete the investigations,” added the court document.
