Abduba Dida’s Wife Amina Halake Steps Out of the Shadows to Seek Kenya’s Top Seat | BossNana International Radio

Amina Halake, wife of former presidential contender Mohammed Abduba Dida, has thrown her hat into the ring for Kenya’s top seat in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a televised interview on TV47, Halake revealed that she now leads the Alliance for Real Change (ARC) party, taking over the reins from her husband.

“I am the party leader for Alliance for Real Change, not my husband Abduba Dida,” she stated.

Halake said the time has come for Kenya to be led by a woman, adding that citizens are increasingly frustrated by the state of the nation.

“This is the time for a woman president. Kenyans are fed up, tired and aware of what is going on. Everything is collapsing, even a two-year-old is a politician now,” she said.

She also emphasized that her political experience runs deep, having been actively involved in her husband’s past campaigns while also managing affairs at home.

“I was involved in almost everything, the campaigns and his welfare at home. So there is nothing I do not know about the campaigns and strategies,” she explained.

It’s still unclear whether Abduba Dida, who is currently abroad, will support her presidential bid.

“He may or may not support my presidential ambitions. When he comes back, maybe he may,” she said. Halake noted that while she had hinted at her plans, the two haven’t had an in-depth conversation about her candidacy.

Her entry into the 2027 presidential race places her among a small but determined group of Kenyan women who’ve vied for the country’s top seat. She follows in the footsteps of trailblazers like Charity Ngilu (1997), Nazlin Omar (2007), Martha Karua (2013), and Nobel laureate Wangari Maathai (1997).

Halake said her decision to run stems from the worsening state of the nation. She pointed to rampant corruption, unresolved abductions, and a disturbing rise in extrajudicial killings as major concerns.

“No one is being held accountable. This candidacy is not just ambition, it’s a response to a national crisis,” she declared.
