Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has warned parents and learners not to fall for claims that individuals can provide advance access to national examination papers as the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) begin.
Speaking in Makueni on Monday, October 26, during the distribution of the first examination papers, Ogamba said the ministry had put measures in place to prevent leaks. He urged the public to be wary of anyone claiming to have obtained the papers in advance, saying such claims were fraudulent and intended to facilitate cheating.
“I particularly caution parents, candidates, and members of the public against individuals who claim to have access to examination papers and demand money in exchange for purported advanced access. Such claims are fraudulent,” Ogamba stated.
He urged anyone with information about people selling purported advance papers to report them to the ministry or other relevant authorities.
“I urge anyone with information concerning these activities to report the matter promptly to relevant authorities,” he added.
The warning comes as Grade Six and Grade Nine learners sit for the KPSEA and KJSEA, respectively, with some individuals reportedly seeking to make money by selling fake advance papers.
Ogamba also warned that the government would take firm action against anyone involved in examination malpractice during the 2026 national assessments and examinations. He called on center managers, supervisors, invigilators, and other examination officials to uphold integrity, warning that anyone involved in irregularities could face criminal or administrative action.
“Let me reiterate that the government will not tolerate any examination malpractice in any form or manner. Center managers, supervisors, invigilators, and all officials entrusted with the administration of examinations and assessments must discharge their responsibilities with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism,” he said.
The government has also coordinated with the Ministry of Interior, KNEC, and other agencies to respond to heavy rainfall, flooding, insecurity, and difficult terrain during the examination period.
