Guyo Fires Back After Gachagua Links Him to Livestock Theft | BossNana International Radio

Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has dismissed remarks by Democracy for Citizens’ Party leader and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who linked him, President William Ruto, and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale to livestock theft and wider security concerns in the region.

Guyo rubbished the claims as political posturing, urging Gachagua to stop using security and poaching allegations to intimidate local leaders and influence voters’ decisions.

In the days leading up to his trip to the United States, Gachagua alleged that Governor Guyo and Health CS Aden Duale had involvement in cattle theft.

“Hizi ngombe zenu zinaenda wapi? Zinapelekwa KMC (Kenya Meat Commission) kuchinjwa… Kasongo na Duale ndio wanatumana ziibiwe, wanauza KMC wanachukua pesa. Gavana Guyo wako pamoja na wao” (Where are your cows going? They are taken to KMC to be slaughtered… Kasongo and Duale are the ones sending people to steal them, they sell to KMC and pocket the money. Governor Guyo is working with them), Gachagua alleged.

Governor Guyo questioned the timing and sincerity of Gachagua’s abrupt concern about regional security and banditry. He noted that although Gachagua previously held a senior national office, he did not address or resolve long-standing security challenges during his tenure.

“Nilimjua akiwa deputy president. Sijawai sikia akiongea mambo ya banditry akiwa deputy president. Saa hii anaongea kama nani?” (I knew him when he was deputy president. I never heard him speak about banditry issues while he was deputy president. Now he’s talking as who?), Guyo said.

Guyo urged the former deputy president to stop using banditry and stock theft allegations as political leverage against leaders who back the current government administration.

In addition to dismissing the security allegations, Governor Guyo reaffirmed Isiolo County’s political alignment with the current national leadership, rejecting efforts by rival factions to mobilize support in the region. He declared that the county remains firmly united behind President William Ruto’s administration and its political structures.

“Mipango tunayomwambia leo, ashike na aweke tarehe ya leo. President Ruto atapata 80% ya kura za Isiolo County” (The plans we are telling him today, let him take note and mark today’s date. President Ruto will get 80% of the votes in Isiolo County), Guyo told a public gathering.

He further highlighted the local community’s unity, saying, “Wale wakora wameenda kwake Isiolo… Kwanza 80% ni clan moja, sindio? Sisi kama watu wa Isiolo tuko ndani ya Tutam” (Those crooks have gone to his place in Isiolo… 80 percent is one clan, isn’t it? We as the people of Isiolo are within Tutam).

Governor Guyo at the same ame time outlined a long-term political roadmap for the region’s support. He endorsed Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki for future political leadership after President Ruto’s tenure.

“Sisi ni watu ambao tutasupport pia Professor Kindiki baada ya nani? Ya Ruto” (We are people who will also support Professor Kindiki after who? After Ruto), Guyo said.
