Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has drawn a firm boundary for politicians seeking to join his newly adopted political outfit, declaring that leaders who attack opposition figures or cause public disruption will not find a home in the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK).
Addressing supporters during his inaugural grassroots tour rally in Mukuyu, Murang’a County, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Nyoro made it clear that lawmakers and activists affiliated with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) who are notorious for political hostility will face rejection at the PPK doorway.
The former UDA insider acknowledged that several ruling party members sent him congratulatory messages following his high-profile exit from the party, but he quickly dismissed their overtures.
“Mimi niliona juzi hawa watu wa wheelbarrow, ati wakati niliongea wanaanza kuniambia congratulations,” Nyoro said. (“I saw recently those wheelbarrow people; when I spoke, they started telling me congratulations.”)
Strict Admission Standards for PPK
The Kiharu lawmaker insisted that PPK will maintain strict political discipline, barring anyone who has spent their career insulting opposition leaders or inciting chaos at public and religious events.
“Mimi nataka kusema ya kuwa kama uko UDA, katika hii serikali sahii, na wewe kazi yako imekua ya kutukana viongozi, kama wewe umetukana Gachagua, Peoples Party haina nafasi kwako, enda usikizane naye. Kama umekua mtu wa kupeleka fujo kanisani, ujue PPK haina nafasi kwako. Pia wenye wamekosana na Matiang’i, Kalonzo, kwanza endeni msikizane naye mnajua kwake,” he declared.
(“I want to say that if you are in UDA, in this current government, and your work has been to insult leaders, if you have insulted Gachagua, the People’s Party has no room for you; go reconcile with him. If you have been bringing chaos to churches, know that PPK has no room for you. Also, those who have fallen out with Matiang’i or Kalonzo should first go reconcile with them; you know where they live.”)
Nyoro explicitly named former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as key figures with whom rogue politicians must resolve their disputes before asking for PPK membership.
Eyeing the 2027 General Election
Nyoro is positioning the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) as a formidable opposition force capable of uniting reform-minded leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election. Originally registered in 2012, the party operates under the slogan “Usawa Haki Uhuru” (Equality, Justice, Freedom).
As part of his strategy to build a nationwide political network, Nyoro plans to extend membership drives and mobilization rallies to the Rift Valley and other regions across Kenya. He has already welcomed several former UDA Members of County Assembly (MCAs) into the party, encouraging voters to embrace PPK as a viable alternative for Kenya’s political future.
