Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has turned his attention to Kenyans living in the diaspora following a series of political consultations at his Wamunyoro home, where he sharply criticized the current administration while consolidating his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
Gachagua departed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesday night, August 26, 2026, embarking on a 50-day tour of the United States. According to an itinerary released by the DCP, the former Deputy President will spend the first 10 days of the trip resting and spending time with his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, before kicking off official engagements.
Speaking to journalists and supporters prior to his departure, Gachagua explained that taking time away from high-stakes political events will allow him to focus on his family after a demanding period of campaign activities.
“I’m taking a 10-day break to re-energize and spend some quality time with my wife. I’ve not had an opportunity to spend some quality time with her,” Gachagua said.

Following his initial retreat, Gachagua will transition into a structured series of political and town-hall-style meetings targeting the Kenyan diaspora community across several states.
