The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has rolled out Saturday operations and extended service hours at its offices starting June 17, giving taxpayers more time to meet the June 30 filing deadline.
KRA activated Saturday operations at Huduma Centers, and the tax offices will also stay open on June 20 and June 27 from 9am to 1pm for taxpayers who cannot file during the week.
The authority will further run extended weekday hours, opening its offices from 7am to 7pm between June 17 and June 26. This marks a major shift from the usual schedule of 8am to 5pm.
On June 30, the final deadline day, KRA will keep the same offices open from 7am to midnight. The longer hours are expected to help last-minute filers complete their submissions.
KRA’s Contact Centre will also run an extended schedule. From June 17 to June 19, it will stay open until 10pm before switching to midnight operations from June 22 through June 30.
The Contact Center will operate on Saturdays, June 20 and June 27, from 9am to 4pm, offering phone and digital support to taxpayers who need help using the iTax portal.
KRA has also enlisted select Huduma Centres to reduce congestion in various locations. Branches in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Meru, Kiambu, Kisumu, and other towns will open from 7am to 7pm on weekdays.
In Nairobi, residents will benefit from five Huduma Centre locations included in the arrangement: GPO, City Square, Kibra, Makadara, and Eastleigh, giving taxpayers more service points closer to home.
All other regular Huduma Centers that are not on the select list will maintain their usual weekday hours of 8am to 5pm and will stay closed on weekends for the duration of the filing period.
Taxpayers are reminded that Sundays remain closed across all service points. As a result, the only in-person assistance available will run through weekdays and the designated Saturdays.
