End of an Era as Ann Njogu Announces Emotional Exit From Staarabika Show | BossNana International Radio

In a move that marks the end of a major era in Swahili radio, celebrated broadcaster Ann Njogu has announced her departure from Radio Maisha’s popular mid-morning program, Staarabika.

In her heartfelt announcement, the seasoned presenter expressed deep appreciation to her loyal listeners, acknowledging their consistent engagement, stories, and unwavering support over the years.

You have been riding with me on Radio Maisha and Staarabika for a while now, and I’m sitting here trying to find words that don’t sound too small for what this long journey meant. Every midmorning, you tuned in, sent in your shouts, your stories, your heartbreaks, your requests, and defended Staarabika like it was yours – that’s what kept me showing up,” she shared.

Describing her exit as the conclusion of a major chapter in her media career, Njogu noted that she is transitioning into a new phase. However, she reassured her audience that this is not a permanent goodbye, promising to keep them informed about her upcoming professional ventures.

“As I embark on a new chapter in my career, this is my farewell from the show. Not goodbye to the memories, and not goodbye to you. Just the end of this chapter on the air on the radio. Thank you for letting me be part of your midmorning. I will keep you posted,” she promised.

Ann Njogu is a prominent Swahili-language broadcast journalist who built a stellar career in radio and television, rising to prominence as both a presenter and program manager at Radio Maisha.

She is widely celebrated for hosting the mid-morning show Staarabika, a program that resonated with millions by focusing on motivation, lifestyle, relationships, and deep listener engagement.

Born in Thika and raised in Nakuru, Njogu developed an early passion for media during her school years. She later pursued a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Public Relations at Moi University, managing her studies part-time while balancing the demands of work and family life. Before fully plunging into the media industry, her industrious nature saw her venture into business activities, including running a cosmetics shop and even working as a taxi driver.

In past interviews, Njogu revealed that her entry into journalism was heavily influenced by a school tour to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) and encouragement from teachers who recognized her exceptional strength in Kiswahili communication.

Upon joining Radio Maisha, she firmly established her reputation through Staarabika and later expanded her portfolio into business-focused content, including Maisha Biashara. Her leadership skills eventually propelled her to the role of Programs Controller, where she oversaw station content and scheduling. Beyond radio, her career extended into television as the host of Biashara Viwandani on KTN, complemented by a vibrant and growing digital presence across social media platforms.
