Three Arrested in Senator Osotsi Attack as DCI Hunts More Suspects | BossNana International Radio

DCI detectives in Kisumu County have arrested three suspects following an attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi at the West End Mall’s Java House on Wednesday. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations identified the men in custody as 24-year-old Carlos Owiti (known as Kalonje), 39-year-old Eric Otieno (known as Dude), and 27-year-old Vincent Odhiambo (known as Tinga). Police credit the swift arrests to crucial tips and support provided by members of the public.

While these three individuals await their day in court, the investigation remains in high gear.

“Investigations have been intensified, with detectives actively pursuing additional suspects linked to the incident. Further updates will be provided as the investigations progress,” the directorate announced in a statement on Thursday afternoon.

This police action comes amid mounting pressure from the public and political leaders who are sounding the alarm over a surge in “goon culture.”

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, April 8, was captured on CCTV footage showing a group of youths pinning the senator to the floor. The attackers swarmed him from all sides as he struggled to escape the mall. Following the assault, the senator was airlifted to Nairobi for urgent medical attention.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna provided an update on his colleague’s condition after visiting him at Karen Hospital. While he confirmed that doctors described Osotsi as “stable,” Sifuna noted that the legislator remains badly injured and deeply affected by the violence.

“Just left Karen Hospital, where our brother Senator Osotsi is being taken care of. He is badly injured, but the doctors are taking good care of him. They say he is ‘stable’. I don’t know what to say in these situations, honestly. It shouldn’t come to this,” Sifuna shared yesterday.

As investigators work to uncover the motive behind the attack, the incident has sparked a broader debate about the safety of public officials in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
