Fresh ODM Drama as Omanyo Blasts Millie Odhiambo Over Sifuna Remarks | BossNana International Radio

Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo has leveled sharp criticism against Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, accusing her of “sitting on the fence” during a period of mounting internal friction within the ODM party. Omanyo, who currently serves as the acting secretary general while Senator Edwin Sifuna is away, expressed disappointment in the veteran legislator for failing to take a decisive stand.

“Millie Odhiambo, whom I looked up to in politics, has sat on the fence when so many things are happening in ODM; she is sitting on the fence. She said ODM mistreated Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna. In her heart, somehow, she is picking a side,” she said.

The deputy secretary general suggested that Millie’s public comments regarding the alleged mistreatment of Sifuna only serve to deepen the party’s confusion. Omanyo argued that as an experienced lawyer, Millie should have taken a more constructive and private approach to the situation.

“She should be the last person to speak like that to show that she cares. If she cares so much and she is a lawyer, she should have a sit-down with her fellow lawyer Sifuna and urge him to try and solve issues internally if there is something that does not please him with ODM and not to bring confusion.”

Omanyo defended how the party has handled Sifuna, dismissing any talk of mistreatment. She suggested that the senator’s current frustrations stem from a personal choice to move on, rather than any actions taken by the party leadership.

Furthermore, she signaled that the race for the secretary general position is wide open, confirming her own intentions to secure the role permanently during the upcoming National Delegates Convention (NDC).

“If someone decided to leave, whatever you try to give them will not matter; they will still leave. I have parked myself in SG and settled just fine. The party is still solid, and we are all set. We shall meet in the NDC. I will fight for the seat,” she said.

These comments follow Millie Odhiambo’s public warnings about the party’s internal culture. Millie previously cautioned that the way ODM handles its disputes often backfires by turning dissenting members into martyrs or heroes.

“Our mistreating Sifuna is what has made Sifuna a hero. So let us be careful the way we are dealing with our issues,” Odhiambo said earlier.

The Suba North MP also shared her own struggles with the party’s hierarchy, alleging that she has faced intimidation for voicing her opinions. She specifically recalled past attempts to silence her during a high-profile meeting in Kisumu, highlighting a broader concern for internal democracy within the movement.
