‘You Came With Empty Promises’: Kindiki Slams Gachagua Over Incitement in Meru | BossNana International Radio

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki launched a sharp attack against his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, on Sunday, accusing the DCP leader of promoting incitement and divisive politics. Kindiki delivered these remarks in Meru County shortly after attending the induction of Bishop David Mwiti at the Kaaga Synod of the Methodist Church, where he urged residents to reject pressure from opposition figures.

“Visitors are welcome in Meru, but they must come with discipline… no chaos or trouble. If they cause unrest, we will deal with it seriously. The people of Meru are civilized; we do not tolerate disorder or noise,” Kindiki warned.

In a further jab at Gachagua, Kindiki criticized the former Deputy President for consistently disrespecting current officials and failing to provide meaningful results during his tenure. He argued that Gachagua had squandered his time in office by fighting the president and sabotaging government projects instead of focusing on development.

Kindiki insisted that political visitors must respect the Meru people and their current leaders. He dismissed his predecessor’s record, claiming Gachagua failed to deliver any tangible development to the region and instead focused on empty promises and deception during his single term.

“You must respect the people of Meru and its leaders. There is nothing you brought here in terms of development… you came with empty promises, deceiving people during your one term,” he said.

The Deputy President’s remarks directly countered accusations from Gachagua and other opposition figures, who blamed Kindiki for a coordinated effort to block them from entering Meru County.

Security forces denied Gachagua and his allies entry to the Kaaga Methodist Church on Sunday, escalating the political tension. While Kindiki attended the high-profile induction of Bishop David Mwiti there, the opposition group was forced to reroute to a smaller service at the East Africa Pentecostal Church in Njotene.

In response to the standoff, Kalonzo Musyoka accused the government of using state machinery for intimidation and pledged to take legal action against Kindiki for the blockade.

The Deputy President continued his sharp critique of Gachagua. He accused the former DP of launching constant attacks on the government instead of supporting the development goals of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Kindiki further scrutinized Gachagua’s political history and warned him against inciting the public.

“You, Rigathi, were just a district officer and served one term as an MP. When you were appointed deputy president, you undermined the government by fighting the president and sabotaging development programs. We will not allow anyone to destroy our country by inciting people,” Kindiki said.

Separately, Kindiki detailed the government’s comprehensive development strategy. He challenged his critics to name any projects they actually secured for Meru County, the Mt. Kenya region, or the country during their time in power.

“The difference between us and those walking around inciting people is like day and night. We have a solid plan… We dare them to present the projects they lobbied for Meru County, the Mt. Kenya region, and Kenya at large when they were in office,” he said.
