Kenya Power Planned Outage to Hit Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa and More | BossNana International Radio

Residents across several parts of the country should prepare for planned electricity interruptions on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) announced a scheduled network maintenance exercise that will affect at least 50 areas. In a public notice shared on social media on Monday evening, the utility firm confirmed that most locations will face outages between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, though a few areas will see power return by 4:00 pm.

KPLC explained that these maintenance works seek to improve service reliability and stabilize the national power grid. The company encourages customers to check the specific schedules to plan their daily activities accordingly.

In Nairobi, the planned blackout will hit the Kamumbi and Rapta Road areas. Major locations losing power include the Golf Sports Ground, Karura Health Centre, Lantana Road, and Ring Road Westlands, along with several surrounding neighborhoods.

Moving into Kiambu County, the utility firm scheduled cuts for Kirigiti, Migaa, and sections of Ndumberi, affecting both residential homes and local institutions. In the wider Mt. Kenya region, Nyeri County will see outages in Mahiga, Ndunyu, and Hubuini, impacting essential markets, schools, and trading centers. Nearby, Kirinyaga County residents in Mwea, Thiba, and Roka should also prepare for the interruption.

The maintenance exercise extends into the Central Rift, where parts of Bomet County, including Kapkwen, Tarakwa, and Makimeny, will remain without power from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. In South Nyanza, the schedule affects Ogande, Wiga, and Lorateng in Homa Bay County. Notably, this outage will impact key facilities such as the Kabunde Airstrip and various county government offices.

At the Coast, sections of Mombasa County, including Mishomoroni and Kashani, face day-long interruptions. These will affect critical installations like the Coast General Hospital and Kiembe ni Police Station, as well as several surrounding residential estates.

Kenya Power advised customers in all listed areas to plan their activities accordingly. The company reminded the public to treat all electrical installations as live during the maintenance period, as power could return earlier than expected.
