Dorcas Rigathi, the wife of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, shot down rumors that she plans to run for a woman representative seat, noting that she would only ever consider the presidency as her starting point.
While appearing on the Obinna TV podcast on Sunday, March 8, 2026, the recently ordained reverend clarified that she holds no political ambitions. Instead, she intends to dedicate her energy to supporting vulnerable groups, including widows, orphans, and people living with disabilities.
“If I were to go for any seat, it would be the presidency. How can I vie for a woman rep seat, really?”
She explained that her current mission involves preaching the gospel and uplifting the marginalized. She also reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for the “boy child,” a cause she holds dear.
“I don’t think I have ambition in that area; I have work to do, and a lot of it, that is for the widow and the people with disabilities,” Dorcas Gachagua said.
She explained that preaching the gospel and serving vulnerable people remain the greatest gifts God has given her. She prefers this calling over the “murky waters” of politics. These remarks follow praise from the former deputy president during her ordination as a reverend. Gachagua shared that he and his sons ensure 10% of every shilling the family earns goes to her as a tithe.
He recalled that even during the high-pressure 2022 campaigns, when he spent nearly every coin on politics, he never missed a tithe. He noted that despite the financial strain of the campaign season the family consistently prioritized supporting her clerical work.
