Senator Karanja Faces Legal Demand After Accusations Against Governor Kihika | BossNana International Radio

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has issued a sharp legal demand to Senator Tabitha Karanja, insisting on a public apology and retraction over what she describes as defamatory remarks made during a church service on December 21, 2025.

Through a letter written by her lawyer, Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi, Kihika accused the Nakuru senator of making “false, malicious and gravely disparaging” statements aimed at destroying her reputation and misleading the public.

At the centre of the dispute are claims Karanja allegedly made at the church gathering, where she accused the governor of misusing public funds to build a family-owned hotel said to be worth billions of shillings. Kihika has dismissed the allegations as completely untrue and dangerous.

The governor also took issue with claims that the alleged hotel sits on Kenya Railways land near Nakuru Memorial Hospital and State House. In her demand letter, Kihika argued that dragging the State House into the narrative was reckless and posed a national security risk.

Karanja had further escalated the matter by saying she would table a motion against Kihika when the Senate resumes in February 2026, a move that Kihika now says was designed to politically damage her.

In the legal notice, Kihika accused the senator of deliberately trying to ruin her standing with voters in Nakuru and across the country.

“Your utterances were deliberately calculated to injure the reputation and standing of Her Excellency with her constituents and was solely conceived, designed and executed to expose her to hatred, contempt, ridicule and odium in order to lower our Client in the estimation of the right-thinking members of Nakuru County in particular and Kenya at large,” the letter reads.

Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi also described Karanja’s claims in unusually strong language, accusing her of fabricating an outrageous narrative.

Kihika now wants the senator to take immediate responsibility for the remarks. She has demanded that Karanja “immediately and unconditionally” retract the statements and “immediately admit liability and confess publicly to all Kenyans at large that malice was the motive of [her] remarks.”
