The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced that retail fuel prices in Kenya will remain unchanged for the period from December 15, 2025, to January 14, 2026.
In Nairobi, Super Petrol will retail at Ksh184.52 per litre, Diesel at Ksh171.47, and Kerosene at Ksh154.78. The prices include the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) as required by the Finance Act 2023 and the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024. EPRA also adjusted excise duties to account for inflation, in line with Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
Fuel prices vary slightly across major towns. In Mombasa, Super Petrol will sell at Ksh181.24, Diesel at Ksh161.19, and Kerosene at Ksh151.49. In Nakuru, motorists will pay Ksh183.56 for Super Petrol, Ksh170.87 for Diesel, and Ksh154.21 for Kerosene. Eldoret residents will see Super Petrol at Ksh184.38, Diesel at Ksh171.68, and Kerosene at Ksh155.03, while Kisumu’s prices mirror Eldoret’s.
EPRA explained that the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol fell by 4.25 per cent, dropping from Ksh79,712 per cubic metre in October to Ksh76,326.49 per cubic metre in November. Diesel prices increased by 3.02 per cent, from Ksh81,760.91 to Ksh84,231.57 per cubic metre, while Kerosene rose by 5.52 per cent, from Ksh81,388.83 to Ksh85,880.82 per cubic metre. These fluctuations reflect global market trends, which directly impact local pump prices.
Kenya imports all petroleum products in refined form, and EPRA sets local prices based on international market rates. The regulator also factors in the United States Dollar to Kenya Shilling exchange rate, which edged up slightly from 129.54 in October to 129.81 in November 2025.
The Murban Crude Oil benchmark remained stable at approximately Ksh9,000 per barrel during November. Central Bank of Kenya Governor Kamau Thugge noted on December 10 that international oil prices have moderated due to increased production and subdued global demand.
Consumers can expect steady pump prices as Kenya enters the festive season, despite the mixed global trends in petroleum costs.
