President William Ruto was awarded the CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award 2025 for outstanding achievements in overseeing the growth and development of football in Kenya and throughout Africa.
The accolade was presented on Wednesday night during the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony held in Rabat, Morocco. Kenyan Ambassador to Morocco, Jessica Gakinya, accepted the award on behalf of President Ruto.
“With the elaborate support structure the government is putting in place for sports and particularly football, I have no doubt our players shall soon be recipients of these coveted accolades as well,” Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed remarked on the recognition.
Equally celebrated were efforts by Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni to advance football institutions and support major continental sporting initiatives. CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe hailed the three East African heads of state for steadfast commitment to the development of football on the continent.
The recognition follows Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda’s successful co-hosting of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which demonstrated remarkable improvements in stadium infrastructure, operational excellence, and event management capabilities.
Kenya now sets its sights on hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, positioning the nation as a rising powerhouse in African football development.
The star-studded ceremony also celebrated individual excellence. Nigeria’s Super Falcons claimed the Women’s Team of the Year honor, while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie secured the Women’s Goalkeeper award. Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi captured the Men’s Player of the Year title, and Ghizlane Chebbak triumphed as Women’s Player of the Year.
