Mathe wa Ngara Freed on Bond in Cannabis Trafficking Case | BossNana International Radio

High Court Judge James Wakiaga has overturned the earlier decision that denied bond to Nancy Kigunzu Indoveria, widely known as Mathe wa Ngara.

In a Wednesday ruling, Justice Wakiaga allowed her appeal and granted her a Ksh. 500,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount. The court further ordered her to report to the investigating officer every 30 days and warned her against committing similar offences while on bond.

Previously, JKIA Magistrate Renee Kitangwa had denied Mathe wa Ngara bond on September 14, 2024. Her co-accused, David Ochieng and Christopher Odipo, had earlier been released on Ksh. 1 million bond, with a similar surety.

Through her lawyers, Martina Swiga and Danstan Omari, Mathe wa Ngara appealed the magistrate’s decision, assuring the court that she would comply with all conditions imposed on her.

The prosecution contends that the suspects were found with 18.3 kilograms of cannabis, valued at Ksh. 6 million. The three were arraigned on August 12 and face charges of trafficking narcotics and conspiracy to traffic narcotics.

Justice Wakiaga’s decision allows Mathe wa Ngara temporary freedom under strict conditions while the case continues, marking a significant development in a case that has captured national attention.
