Govt Warns Public Servants Who Skip Second Round of Mandatory Impunity Training | BossNana International Radio

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.

Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff Felix Koskei has given public officers who skipped last month’s compulsory virtual training on addressing impunity a final chance to attend the sessions. His office warned that those who will snub this training for the second time will be noted, and action is expected to follow accordingly.

The second round of compulsory Zoom meetings started last Monday and will end this Friday. The government has framed the training as a crucial plank of its broader agenda to ensure discipline, increase accountability, and improve efficiency throughout the public service.

In an internal notice to the ministries and departments, Principal Administrative Secretary Arthur Osiya called on supervisors to ensure that all officers who missed the previous sessions turn up this time.

“Please bring the above notice to the attention of all your staff who missed an opportunity to be trained during the November 3rd to 7th week,” Osiya said.

He emphasized that the refresher sessions, officially known as the virtual trainings on the Matrix of Lawful Consequences for Infractions in the Public Service, would run daily this week.

“Please remind them that the virtual trainings… were extended and will be conducted every day this week, Monday, 17 to Friday 21 at 2:00pm,” he added.

Osiya instructed staff to register for a session that fits their schedule using the link provided in the memo.

“Please note that all staff should be trained and will be required to pick a convenient day while registering in the form. The registration link is provided,” he said.

He further noted that the Office of the Head of Public Service will keep a full record of officers who attend the sessions.

Meanwhile, Koskei has started his working visit to London, United Kingdom, where he is holding high-level meetings with senior UK officials with a view to further advancing governance reforms and enhancing bilateral cooperation. He met Sir Chris Wormald, Cabinet Secretary and Head of the UK Civil Service, at the Cabinet Office in Whitehall, on Tuesday.

“I extend my sincere gratitude to Sir Chris Wormald for his warm reception and constructive dialogue, which laid the foundation for further collaboration,” Koskei said in a statement.

Discussions focused on assessing the current Kenya–UK project partnerships, with a strong emphasis on governance reforms and shared strategic priorities.

Koskei added that his delegation would meet a number of top UK institutions in the coming days, including the Public Sector Fraud Authority, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Home Office, Ministry of Defence, and His Majesty’s Treasury.

The government anticipates that these engagements will help speed up Kenya’s governance reform agenda and deepen its long-standing strategic partnership with the UK.
