Singer, songwriter, and actress Sanaipei Tande will carry Kenya’s flag at the upcoming Intervision Song Contest 2025, marking a proud moment for the country on the global music stage.
The contest, set for September 20, 2025, will be hosted at the Live Arena in Novoivanovskoye, just outside Moscow. According to organizers, a random draw placed Sanaipei 6th in the performance lineup.
The Russian government has been directly coordinating participation with foreign governments, and Kenya was confirmed as a participant on August 20, 2025.
The sultry-voiced songbird will take to the stage with her track “Flavour”, which first dropped on April 18, 2025. A special Intervision version of the song, tailored for the competition, was unveiled on August 29, 2025, the same day Intervision confirmed her as Kenya’s official entrant.
The Intervision Song Contest originally launched in the 1960s but came to a halt in 1980. On February 3, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree reviving the competition to strengthen cultural ties and humanitarian cooperation among friendly nations.
This year’s edition will feature 23 countries, with Kenya joining South Africa, Madagascar, Ethiopia, and Egypt to represent Africa.
The contest results will be decided by an international jury drawn from all participating nations. Each country nominated a juror recognized as a professional in the music industry, including musicians, producers, composers, and educators.
For Kenya, legendary DJ and television host Peter Chuani, popularly known as DJ Pinye, will sit on the professional jury.
In addition to his jury duties, DJ Pinye is scheduled to perform at a sold-out concert at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on September 27, 2025. The event will be headlined by American smooth jazz maestro Kenny G, alongside other global acts, offering Nairobi a night of world-class music.
