The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has warned that several estates in Nairobi will go without water after a major disruption along the Kabete–Kibera–Lang’ata pipeline.
In a public notice issued on Saturday, NCWSC explained that technical challenges had interfered with the system, disrupting water distribution across many parts of the city.
The shortage has hit estates in Lang’ata, Kibera, Kilimani, Lavington, Westlands, and Parklands. Riverside, Kileleshwa, and both the University of Nairobi’s main and Chiromo campuses are also affected.
Residents along Ngong Road and Lang’ata Road are feeling the pinch too. Estates along Raila Odinga Roa, including Mandaraka, Nyayo Highrise, Nairobi West, and Dam Estate, have reported dry taps.
The disruption has not spared key institutions, with Nairobi Hospital and Kenyatta National Hospital also struggling with water shortages.
The company urged residents in the affected estates to use their stored water sparingly as they wait for normal supply to resume.
To cushion households, NCWSC has dispatched water tankers to the affected areas. It assured residents that they can fetch water from the tankers free of charge.
“Our technical staff are working round the clock to resolve the problem. We advise our customers to use their stored water sparingly. In the meantime, we have dispatched our water tankers to the affected estates, for residents to draw water free of charge,” the notice read.
